We made a softsoap from NaOH!!

One more fantsic cource has ended yesterday with a successfull liter of soap!!
This time it was not a block-soap, the “normal” result when one uses NaOH, but with a soft soap!

The recipe is very very easy:
900 g Olive Oil
342g Distilled water
116 NaOH
…. and you star making the soap as if you are about to make a hard soap.
We continued to cook it towards a “warm process soap” and when it was about 7-8 pH we added approx 160 mg Isoproyl allcohol, this is around 12% of the sum weight of the other ingredients =)

This soft soap can be used as a base for everything like a floorsoap, washing mashine, handsoap, body and hair soap depending on the added ingredients.

In order to make a floorsoap do not superfat it. I also add some lyewaer from my Birchashes – In order to make a shampoo superfat it with 5-10% of an oil you prefere like avocado, almond, wheetgerm, the list is long …. and fragrance or essential oil =)

“Hotel” Soaps!!

Lately, I experienced a huge interest in small soaps such as the one you can use in hotels, hostels etc, “one-time” soaps! So I constructed them! I had no problem to get those out in the market in zero time!

You dont have to have a hotel to purchase those! You have probably guests visiting your home and you can impress them with a tiny lovely handmade soap, right!

For the time being I have only the Oatmeal-Citrus soaps in store, but I can make any variety you want me to, just say it! Prices will vary.

You can off-course make your own!! And I will share the secrets with you =)

Shaving soap+cream!

I just got the feedback for my very first customized shaving soap! I also made a shaving cream which I used for my self and I was very satisfied!

Whats different between a soap for washing and a shaving soap are the ingredients. In shaving soaps you need more castor oil and probably some palm oil (because of the Stearic acid) but I used only stearic acid and no palm oil.

The result was nice, and the smell even nicer! The customer got also a label with his name on the soap! The containers are upcycled.

Order yours now!!
Price: 150.- for 130gr Label with your name included =)

See through soaps!

I have finally made some beautiful glycerin soaps, transparent and ready to melt and pour! Soon I will have the recipe and the procedure posted!
The dark on (because of dark syrup in the ingredients instead of white sugar) I transformed into a shampoo-bar superfated with olive oil, tea tree ess. oil and lemongrass ess. oil. I have never ever enjoyed shampooing so much before =)))

The tough life of a soapmaker …

Well …. its not always a success story hmmm …

I packaged yesterday a nice batch of “Olive Only” and it just popped upto use some vanilla smell before I wrap it up. I used the liquid vanilla I use in cakes, and guess what: the soap became stained like an old dirty disqusting filthy soap made in a slum …. Thank god only on the surface. So, I ground it up, rebatched it and made a “Craftmanns soap” which was dry and ready in a couple of hours!
Second case:  I re-bached one soap yesterday and I added too much water so its liquid as a syrup…. I dont think it will ever dry, but I will leave it in its mold for 1 month…  Pity really because it was a active charcoal-soap in black and white swirl …
The third fiasco is when I made a soap which instead of water I added coffee in the lye solution and it just refused to trace …. I am not sure if it was the oils (rapeseed) or the coffee … I mixed it with a coconut soap and swirled it in hope to make a caffè latte soap with coffee grounds and coconut shreds, but the dark layer was again like a syrup. Very curious about this one, I will leave it to dry as long as possible. If it wont make it, I will spread it out and leave it to dry, rebatch it and make a new (but not swirled soap, whatever!

Tomorrow is a new day =)
